The next
beginners tango course
starts on 11 January

Carablanca Tango Club

Open Fridays, Carablanca is London's longest-running tango club.  The friendly, informal atmosphere ensures that beginners and visitors mix easily with the regular dancers.

Our venue, Conway Hall, is a 1920s period building in Central London.  The main hall has a large wooden floor.  The bar is excellent value with a wide choice of drinks.

The dance evening is an Argentine milonga.  Music is traditional Argentine tango, milonga and vals, played in tandas with cortinas by guest DJs.

Tango Classes

Classes take place in a separate room from the milonga. They are taught at two levels.

The Beginners tango course, which starts on the first Friday of the month, is for those with no knowledge of tango.

The Recent Beginners course assumes the knowledge of the Beginners tango course.

Monica & Omar, los Ocampo

We are delighted to welcome Monica & Omar back to perform at Carablanca.

Monica & Omar performed in the stage show Tango Pasion for 20 years.  They have been part of the tango scene in London for nearly that amount of time so most people know them well.  For those who don't, here is information from their web site:

"Los Ocampo are world renowned Tango dancers, choreographers and teachers; they are masters of Argentine folkloric dance; and they are frequent adjudicators at international competitions.  They have devised and performed in numerous Tango shows worldwide and regularly travel between Argentina, the USA, Europe and the Middle East, providing classes and performances as well as leading Tango Tours to beautiful parts of the world."

DJ: Ewa Zbrzeska

London based, originally from Poland, Ewa has been regularly DJing at various London milongas (Corrientes, Pavadita, Etnia, Carablanca, Negracha & The Light), and has played at various UK and European events since 2009.  She plays traditional tango, with emphasis on creating different moods and musical textures to offer a variety of emotions to the dancers.

Empanadas
Empanadas, sourced from Chango Empanadas, go into the oven on the hour.  Order one saying when you want it and whether you want a beef empanada, a chicken empanada or a vegetarian empanada filled with mozzarella, tomato and basil.   Give your table number if you have one.  Your empanada will be delivered to your table about fifteen minutes after the hour you choose.  If you don't have a table it will be delivered to the bar for you to collect.
Tango and Cocktails
A selection of 10 cocktails is available every week.  See our Cocktail Menu. Tango and cocktails both originally became fashionable in Europe in the early twentieth century and they are particularly suited to each other. The subtlety and intensity of a well-prepared cocktail makes it the ideal accompaniment to the mood of tango. Our 1920s period venue, Conway Hall, provides exactly the right setting for recreating some of the elegance of an earlier cocktail age.
